As Premier League champions Manchester City step up preparations for the new season and the defense of their title, Nike Football today reveals the new 2018/19 away kit. Drawing inspiration from a key moment in the Club’s history, the 2018/19 away kit features a dark blue shirt with field blue and luminous yellow pin stripes down the front and back, alongside dark blue shorts.
Design creative comes from the 1998/99 away shirt which was worn when City memorably beat Gillingham in the Second Division play-off final at Wembley to make an immediate return to Division One.
After being 2-0 down at the end of normal time, City scored two dramatic injury-time goals and then went on to win on penalties. That game is seen by many as the start of the modern day revival of the club and the blue shirt with luminous yellow pin stripes down the front and back is a nod to that kit.
While it has altered the order of the colours, the new kit features the dark navy, baby blue and luminous green of that famous kit, bringing the design into a more modern era with three neat and thin stripes down the centre of the jersey, and two more under the arms.

The shirt will be worn alongside dark blue shorts and luminous yellow coloured socks with a dark blue band around the shin. City will wear the new kit for the first time on the pre-season tour game against Liverpool on July 25 with the women’s team wearing it for the first time against Lyon in their pre-season friendly in Miami the day after.
This means we are only days away from seeing this thing of beauty worn by the players. The reaction has been great. What do you think to City’s design? Let us know in the comments section!
