It looks like the upcoming ‘International Flight’ colorway isn’t the only trip across the pond in store for the Air Jordan 5. Neymar and his PSG teammates might receive soon a special edition Air Jordan 5s.
Adding to the international-themed retro releases is a new style inspired by French football club PSG. This stealthy colorway, which is reminiscent of the OG ‘Black/Metallic’ Air Jordan 5, takes its all-black blocking from The Parisians’ alternate uniforms and contains a number of references to the team throughout.
The PSG 5s recently surfaced revealing a stealthy, all-black suede upper reminiscent of the club’s alternate kit as well as the team’s logo on the heel of both shoes. Additionally, the newly unveiled sneakers have ‘75’ embroidered near the heel in place of the familiar 23, and a graphic underneath the mesh paneling, which reads ‘Paris’ with a Jumpman in place of the ‘A’. The 75 is reportedly a reference to zip codes used throughout the city of Paris.
Nike & PSG: the same family
Nike is the longtime sponsor of Paris Saint-Germain so it’s not a total surprise that they’ve produced a special PE, especially since they recently captured France’s Ligue 1 title for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Moreover, Neymar Jr PSG’s star attacker and the most expensive player in history, is famously a Nike athlete and has collaborated with Jordan Brand on his own Air Jordan in the past.
It remains to be seen if this Air Jordan 5 will remain exclusive to members of the club or if they’ll be available to the public as some rumors suggest. So far no release notes or pricing for the Air Jordan 5 ‘Paris’ have been released, but they are expected to drop this summer.
