Pep Guardiola won his seventh major top-flight title with victory on Sunday, making England the third country he’s won the league in. The Manchester City boss led his side to their first title under his stewardship, adding to his previous victories with FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, with whom he won three league titles each in Spain and Germany. Guardiola becomes the first Spanish manager ever to win the Premier League.
The success adds to City’s Carabao Cup victory this season after they beat Arsenal 3-0 in the final in February. Cityzens third title in seven seasons was confirmed after rivals Manchester United surprisingly lost 1-0 at home to bottom of the table West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
City have now 16 points more than United with five more games to play. That means the former Barcelona manager has now won total 23 major titles as a coach after just 517 official matches. It’s averagely one title per 23 games.
Pep Guardiola has won the top-flight league title in seven of his nine seasons as a manager, with the only exceptions being 2011-12 at Barcelona and 2016-17 at Manchester City. Only three in all football’s history have won a title in at least three of Europe’s top five leagues: Ancelotti, Mourinho and Pep.

Guardiola’s City may achieve the highest points and goal tallies of the Premier League era. The club is good enough, young enough and rich enough to build on this season and ascend into the heavens.
And, so soon after Liverpool and United recent defeats, it is easy to forget quite how good a league campaign theirs has been. From August 26, when Raheem Sterling stole an injury-time winner at Bournemouth until December 27, when Newcastle couldn’t even be bothered to attack them at St James’ Park, City won 18 league matches in a row. That was not just a Premier League record, it was the longest winning streak in the 130-year history of the English top flight. Simply awesome.
